Whether you're a person who likes to go wild, a casual game developer, Godot fan, or you just stumbled upon the engine recently and would like to have a go at it, then this is the event for you.

Interested in using the Godot Wild Jam logo in your game as a splash screen? Go to this Google Drive and download: Godot Wild Jam Logo.

Phase 1

Members of the Discord channel will be able to submit theme ideas to our #theme-vote channel. The channel will be unlocked for three days.

Phase 2

The organizers, will discuss and decide the actual theme. They will pick one from the suggested themes from the Discord.

Wildcards are an optional limitation to add a unique challenge in addition to the theme. Pick one or pick all. It's up to you. Wildcards are revealed at the same time as the theme, and there are always only 3. Ignoring wildcards completely will not incur a deduction in judging.

Please include the wildcard that you used in your splash screen, main menu, in-game, or credits screen to let us know which one you used. We recommend placing it on the splash/main menu screen or scaling the graphic down and placing it in a visible but unobtrusive way. All wildcard images will be available in the google drive via the folder path Wildcards -> GWJ #

  1. If you are new to Godot, we suggest using version 3.2.3 for a stable experience.
  2. This is an exclusive engine jam which means only submissions created using the Godot Engine will be allowed.
  3. Submissions may be removed at the sole discretion of the organizers.
  4. Reusing existing code and assets is allowed to an extent.
    - No re-skinning of games made outside of the jam.
    - A majority of the code and/or assets must be made in the jam's time frame.
  5. This is an exclusive jam which means that entries made to both this jam and others will be removed unless otherwise allowed by the organizers.
  6. Submissions require an export to Windows, Mac, and Linux. Please see under Links below on how to Export your game. In lieu of submitting 3 OS versions, a HTML5 export will work. Therefore, you must either export to all 3 operating systems AND/OR upload as HTML5.
  7. No new content may be uploaded after the submission deadline (no music, no polish, no tweaks). The only approved changes are GAME BREAKING bug fixes. Please include other bugs (e.g. don’t play in fullscreen, etc.) as information on your entry’s page.
  8. Follow the theme.
  9. Have fun!

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the jam?

The jam always starts on the second Friday of the month.

Do I have to do everything myself?

Not at all! If you want to use public domain art/sounds or the like, that's entirely fine. And we encourage jammers to team up, too!

Can I use stuff I've already made?

To an extent. The spirit of the jam is that you make something new, not rejig an existing game to fit the criteria.

Can I update the game during the voting period?

No, unless it is a severely game breaking bug. If this is the case, please contact the organizers on Discord. They will review on a case by case basis. Please playtest your game both in engine and as an export on your itch.io game page!

This is to the Godot Documentation for Exporting Your Project. Otherwise, we won't be able to download and play your game!! The docs are your friend. <3
